About the teachers

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art, which in recent years has taken over the world by storm. Capoeira, a martial art developed by slaves who used it to fight their way to freedom, combines highly refined fight moves, spectacular acrobatics, Brazilian music, afro-Brazilian culture and social experience like no other. The “jogo”, the game of Capoeira, is not about winning or losing. Capoeira is about pushing each other to the max, creating a brand new interaction each time, while keeping your partner and yourself unharmed.

Varig (Omri Dvir) - Born and raised in Israel, one of the biggest Capoeira centers in the world, Varig has started practicing the Brazilian art at the age of 14. Training with Professor Boca Rica, Champion of "The Golden

Rope" Tournament, Varig has soon become the head disciple of his group. It had not been long before Varig has started teaching students of his own, being only 17 years old. For the next 5 years Varig has continued teaching numerous groups as a certified Capoeira Instructor with the Israeli Capoeira Association.

At the age of 23, Varig has taken his Capoeira and moved to London, Opening the first "Jogo Da Vida" group in the city, basing his work in north London.

Inst. Varig is a certified Martial Arts instructor by the Wingate International Institute of Sports, and a certified Health and fitness instructor.

Eli (Eli Ben Gourion) - Born and raised in France, Eli moved to Israel with his family at the age of 13, and soon discovered the magic of Capoeira. It had not been long before he found his home in Cordao de Ouro, training with Master Edan, head of the Israeli Capoeira Centre. Teaching in the city of Ashdod, Eli has earned his place as one of the leading Capoeira teachers in Israel.

Looking to develop his art further, Eli set off for a trip around the world, doing Capoeira workshops and exhibitions in Brazil, France, Australia, Canada and England. His world tour has ended in London, setting his goal of leading the Jogo Da Vida group in the city.

Inst. Eli is a certified Martial Arts instructor by the Wingate International Institute of Sports, with years of experience teaching kids and adults.
